How the minimum income works

The host must show income at or above the LICO threshold for their family size. The family size used for this calculation includes the parents or grandparents being invited. Because LICO figures are updated yearly, the current table should be checked on the official IRCC website before applying.

What counts as proof of income

Common documents include a Notice of Assessment, employment letters, pay statements, and bank statements. The host signs an undertaking to financially support the visiting parent or grandparent during their stay.

How it fits with the insurance requirement

The income requirement and the medical insurance requirement are separate and both apply. The host must meet the minimum income, and the visitor must hold medical coverage meeting the program's minimum amount, valid for one year.
